Hayley majored in Religion with a focus in South Asian Studies; she was awarded High Honors for her capstone, "1984 and Film: Trauma and the Evolution of the Punjabi Sikh Identity." In addition to her major, she also has a double minor in Politics and in Rhetoric & Composition. While at Oberlin, Hayley has been a Writing and Speaking Associate for the Rhetoric & Composition department; she also participated in and facilitated for the Barefoot Dialogue program during the entirety of her four years. Hayley has been a member of the Oberlin College Field Hockey Team since her freshman spring and has cherished her time with her OCFH family.

Favorite Place
Oddly enough, one of my favorite Oberlin spaces is my team's locker room. It was the place where I knew I could always be myself; we laughed, danced, cried, studied, and sometimes even took naps. In both in-season and off-season the locker room served as a smelly home-away-from-home.
Favorite Class
One of my favorite classes was Professor Sarah Pierce Taylor's "Introduction to Hindu Traditions". It was my first real class in South Asian traditions and inspired the trajectory of my studies. Professor Taylor pushed us to understand and challenge our positionalities in ways I had never been encouraged to do before. I think that class really embodied the most most positive aspects of the Oberlin experience.

Memorable Oberlin Moment
There are too many memorable moments to choose from, but one of my best memories was road tripping with two of my closest friends, Ruby and Grace, to Nashville during winter term 2018. Ruby and Grace were my first friends at Oberlin and ended up being my roommates and housemates for the majority of our college experience. We didn't realize how expensive everything in Nashville would be so we ended up site-seeing the outside of sites and museums by lurking around the buildings and taking pictures next to random things we found; instead we spent our money on riding fake motorized animals around a Nashville mall. It was one of my favorite trips and just served as proof that if you have the right company, you can make great memories out of any scenario.

Future Plans
In the fall, I will be attending the University of Chicago Divinity School to get my Masters in Divinity! I'm hoping to use my degree to pursue a career in interfaith dialogue and diplomacy with a focus in South Asian traditions.
