About Me
Nick Schrantz began studying the viola da gamba and baroque cello at age 16 at Oberlins Baroque Performance Institute. Since then, he has studied at many institutions for historical performance, having the chance to work with and learn from performers such as Skip Semp Paolo Pandolfo, Josh Lee, and Jeanne Lamon. Nick has appeared as a soloist and an ensemble member with the Tallahassee Bach Parley, members of the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, the Tallahassee Community Chorus, and in viol consorts with Alison Crum. Most recently, Nick has been named a Smithsonian Chamber Music Society Fellow, and will perform alongside members of the celebrated Smithsonian Chamber Music Society in February, 2020. Nick performs in various venues around the nation on both the viola da gamba and the cello. Nick rigorously studies viola da gamba and cello with Catharina Meints at Oberlin Conservatory.
