About Me

My name is He Ren, and I am a biochemistry and chemistry major. I worked as a lab TA for CHEM 101 (Fall 2017) and 205 (Fall 2018), and an OWLS leader for CHEM 101 (Fall 2019). I also worked in the Parsons Lab from 01/2018 to 05/2018 and in the Elrod Lab from 06/2019 to 04/2020. I enjoyed my time at Oberlin for both the intellectual stimulation and support I received.

Favorite Place

Science center N285. It's not a perfect space since eating was not allowed inside the room due to safety reasons, and there was constant background noise from the venting system. I had a lot of fun from socializing with several lovely people and got a lot of work done in N285.

Favorite Class

I have several classes that I enjoyed, including CHEM 325, 339, EAST 324, and MATH 327. All of these classes covered some interesting materials by a charismatic and enthusiastic instructor.

Notable Quote

"Expecting everything to be fun is not reasonable." - Professor Matthew Elrod. March 25, 2020. Via Zoom.

Memorable Oberlin Moment

On November 11th, 2019, around 8 am, I heard people singing the happy birthday song to me during the CHEM 101 session.

Graduation Date

05/25/2020

Future Plans

I will start to pursue a PhD in physical chemistry at UC Berkeley this Fall.
