About Me
My name is Amari. I spent a lot of my time at Oberlin trying out things I was interested in and hanging out with people that I thought were cool and/or different. I feel like I did a lot of things these past 4 years thanks to Oberlin. But the biggest "highlights" I can think of are all the great moments I spent in my quad/house with my roommates, close friends and anyone that ever came through.
Study Abroad
I did not
Campus Jobs
Research Assistant
Student Union staff
Favorite Place
Barrows 203, South 174, North 106 and 74 Elmwood because that is where I lived and spent a significant time there with people that I hold dear to my heart.
Favorite Class
Intro to African Studies, Government and Politics in Africa, and Politics and Society in Africa since the 1980s. All of these were with Professor Opoku. He is the best teacher at Oberlin and has taught me so much about Africa, its history, and its current state. These classes have heavily shaped my worldview and sense of self.
Athletics
Baseball
I was only on the baseball team but stopped after my junior fall season
Clubs & Organizations
Hip Hop Collective
Solarity
Student Union Programming Committee
WOBC: Oberlin College & Community Radio
Memorable Oberlin Moment
Dont really have one. But the Zack Fox show was a good memory because it was probably the all around best show I organized in terms of the turnout and prioritization of Black people.
Graduation Date
05/25/2020
Future Plans
To appreciate and enjoy my family and close friends. And to find a way to make money without destroying my soul.
