About Me

I couldn't have predicted when I started at Oberlin that double-majoring in piano and composition would be so intense, but also deeply rewarding. The best part of my experience was meeting, learning from, collaborating with, and becoming friends with so many amazing artists across all the departments of the Conservatory. From singing Renaissance Polyphony with Collegium to participating in the TIMARA Kaleidosonic Music Festival, the creative energy bubbling around campus is constantly inspiring. I was lucky to be mentored by Alvin Chow and Stephen Hartke. As a chamber musician and duo partner, I was able to have lessons with many string, wind, and voice professors who made a big impression on me. In my senior year, Brian Alegants Performance and Analysis class changed how I think about music, and harpsichord lessons with Mark Edwards and visiting professor Catalina Vicens changed how I think about the piano! I am grateful for the huge number of opportunities I had to get on stage and perform, especially with friendsperforming with others helped me get over crippling stage fright, and focus instead on the joy of creating music together!

Favorite Place

The Local, where I first learned to be a coffee drinker and went on a life-changing first date.

Favorite Class

Collegium Musicum it was so grounding and therapeutic to spend an hour every Monday and Wednesday afternoon immersed in the echoey acoustic of Fairchild Chapel, blending our voices together to bring very old music to life.

Notable Quote

"Don't forget to wiggle your toes!" - Professor Steven Plank, before a Collegium Musicum performance in Fairchild Chapel.

Memorable Oberlin Moment

Playing the Liszt A Major Piano Concerto with the Oberlin Orchestra in the final rehearsal the very last day before in-person classes were cancelled. I've never felt so many emotions at the same time, and by the end I was in tears.

Graduation Date

05/25/2020

Future Plans

I'm planning to pursue my Master of Music in Piano Performance at the Juilliard School.
